Remote Technologies Inc (RTI) is currently seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to fill their new Buyer/Customer Service Rep role. This position will work mainly with our oversees manufacturers to ensure we are maintaining proper flow of finished goods to our facility to maintain our inventory quantities and handle emergency needs. This position will be instrumental in fostering and building the relationships with these manufacturers. The Buyer/CSR reviews material requirements for sales, and plans and purchases the highest quality materials, parts, and components, etc. at the most cost-effective pricing while meeting delivery requirements. This position will also cross-train into Customer Service and Inventory functions, to provide primary and backup task responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Run ERP status reports and analyze for adequate levels of materials to meet projected production needs.
  2. Review all purchase requisitions and order accordingly, ensuring the purchase of the highest quality materials, parts, components, or services at the most cost-effective pricing, while meeting delivery requirements.
  3. Check on materials and parts shortages and expedite as needed.
  4. Coordinate with suppliers for materials and parts, ensuring the ability to meet production requirements and quality standards. Assist with sourcing of new suppliers as required.
  5. Expedite replacement materials and parts.
  6. Process inventory adjustments according to departmental procedures.
  7. Set up part numbers for purchase items as needed, including pricing, costing, lead-time, supplier, and planning information.
  8. Assist with the establishment of supplier managed, or consignment inventories.
  9. Process inventory transactions according to departmental procedures.
  10. Assist in reconciling invoice and receiving transaction discrepancies.
  11. Process customer orders as needed, and provide backup to the Customer Service team.
  12. Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.


  • Associates degree in job-related major; or 2 years of college plus 2-4 years of preogressives responsible related experience. Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in electronics/technical procurement and oversees manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret purchasing related documents such as catalogs, product-related literature, and technical books and/or manuals.
  • Ability to prepare reports, purchase orders and correspondence related to purchasing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and with other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
