Job Description

STRATA is a 40-year-old, Idaho-based corporation, which provides our clients with professional geotechnical engineering, environmental sciences, construction inspection, and material testing (CMT) services throughout the intermountain west. Currently, STRATA has offices in Boise, Coeur d Alene, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello, Idaho; Tri-Cities and Spokane, Washington; Casper and Gillette, Wyoming; and Williston, North Dakota.

Job Description/Summary

We are currently seeking candidates to participate in our Co-Op/Intern mentoring program. Co-Op/Intern positions provide opportunities for students who are currently pursuing an advanced education in the related earth sciences, engineering, drafting and other fields to get hands-on experience working with our professional staff. STRATA s Co-Op/Intern program provides opportunities to translate classroom theories into practical application. This program is also a gateway into long-term employment with STRATA and engaging other professional affiliations who we work with daily.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

Qualifying candidates must have college-level coursework in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or possess other relevant certifications or experience which align with our business. Interns begin training and performing work under the direction of project managers, field, and staff professionals. Candidates receive hands-on experience with exploration, soil, concrete, aggregate and asphalt, both in the laboratory and field. Interns will be exposed to and accomplish field observation, testing, sampling and inspection of construction materials. Our information is relayed to various team members and governing officials through documented site visits and communication directly with clients and contractors; thus, written and verbal communication skills are critical.

The Co-Op approach benefits STRATA with longer duration work periods, and trained skill sets that can be applied more productively, therefore, Co-Op positions are rewarded with up to $1,500 in tuition and book expense reimbursement applied towards the following school semester.

STRATA offers this Co-Op/Intern opportunity because we recognize that our ability to excel depends on the integrity, knowledge, skills and professionalism of our employees. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge with the guidance of senior professionals while developing and expanding your career experience.

Interns will be required to attend training classes, and must attend 85% of these classes to qualify as a summer Co-op/Intern. This training program will prepare students for summer positions. Each training session consists of approximately 3 hours of combined classroom and hands on experiences.

STRATA will provide a bonus at the end of the season, equivalent to the hours each intern invested in the required training classes.
