The ultimate Director of Operations at Gold Star Service will be responsible for, and assures delivery of, highly efficient field services while meeting or exceeding all company and industry standards. P&L responsibility for company s field installation operations. The Director of Operations will work with Directors and Managers to develop processes, procedures and systems for a high quality service delivery. This includes service delivery by company service experts and all Subcontractors and Vendors.

Your role on the Gold Star Service team:

You provide operational solutions to all departments with the highest integrity. You are part of a team that exceeds systems and customer satisfaction every day. As our Director of Operations, your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, coordinate and direct the overall operations of our Hicksville, NY location.
  • Accountable for the KPIs of the company, to include but not limited to:
    • Safety
    • Labour Productivity and Efficiency
    • Service Lead Turn Rate
    • Inventory / Working Capital
    • Customer Satisfaction and Call Backs
    • Employee Retention
    • SE Standards (appearance, process, etc.)
    • Operating Budget
    • Others as defined by the CEO
    • Evaluate strengths of the service and installation departments and maintain a staffing level consistent with business activity.
    • Plan and coordinate all service work and installation projects.
    • Handle customer service complaints in a professional manner with the focus on more than satisfied customers in all decisions.
    • Support the sales department by 1) answering technical questions and recognizing applications, and 2) supporting the Lead Coordinator in maximizing the Sales Lead Program.
    • Coordinate to recruit, hire and train all employees (techs and supervisors).
    • Assist Plumbers, Installers and other Service Expert staff with major problems as necessary and ensure key processes are created/maintained ensuring department effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Coordinate inventory management with employees (parts and equipment).
    • Maintain standards for uniforms and appearance.
    • Responsible to execute standard Service Experts processes and ensure all employees follow best practices and policies/procedures.
    • Responsible for local assets assigned to the company (vehicles, computers, facility, etc.).
    • Responsible for payroll requirements for the company employees (timesheet submittals, approvals, etc.).
    • Keep a master file of technical information on all manufacturers equipment for reference purposes.
    • Develop and maintain active roles in the local community (business networking organizations, community activity involvement, etc.).
    • Provide leadership, direction and support to the team.
    • Deposit cash and checks in local accounts.
    • Ensure work is conducted in compliance with NYS and local regulations and in accordance with licensing requirements.

The Director of Operations must have the following skill base and knowledge

  • 3-5 years of management experience in the Plumbing and/or Home Services Industries.
  • Will possess strong people management, leadership and professional skills and experience.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Training and coaching aptitude.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and planning abilities.
  • A good understanding of Microsoft software, GoogleSuite, and other relevant office software.
  • Demonstrate aptitude to gain knowledge of servicing and installing plumbing and HVAC equipment and accessories.
  • Will possess a post-secondary degree/diploma in a business or technical field.
  • Demonstrated significant leadership and/or management responsibilities in previous positions.
  • Good understanding and overall knowledge of the plumbing and/or HVAC industry an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of customer-focused service and installations.
  • Ability to read blue-prints
  • Knowledge of best business practices, safety and installation methods
  • Valid NYS driver s license and clean driving and criminal records as required by state laws for home service companies and by company insurance carrier(s)
  • Present a neat, clean, professional appearance at all times
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and some nights
  • Excellent time management skills
