We have a current opening for an Estimator, in Sacramento, CA.

Position Description:

The Estimator, working within the Horizontal Division, will skillfully read and interpret plans, proposals and other documentation to develop bids and successfully negotiate budgets. The Estimator will also be able to prepare and present estimate documentation, as well as, track and analyze data to reduce gaps between estimates and actual cost.

Essential Functions:

  • Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes, preparing bids, selecting vendors, or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation and complete quantity survey to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects; applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes
  • Attend pre-bid job meetings and site surveys when required
  • Prepare bid summary ensuring the computed bid price includes all correct and necessary information
  • Generate RFIs when appropriate and necessary
  • Work with Field/Project Engineers and Project Managers to successfully deliver completed project

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
    • Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Construction Management/Civil Engineering/Similar a plus
  • 5-10 years experience in Estimating within the construction industry
    • Estimating specific to Airfield and/or Underground preferred
  • Ability to use Sharpesoft Estimator 2017
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Strong organization skills as well as having attention to detail

Special Considerations:

  • Experience with Airfield projects
  • Experience bidding Public Works projects; i.e. Caltrans
