Job Title: Engineering Intern
FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Dates of Internship: May 20, 2019 - July 25, 2019
Work Schedule: Temporary Position, 40 hours/week, Monday-Thursday (4-10 s)
Compensation: $17/hour (Ineligible for insurance benefits, paid holidays, PTO, etc.)
INTERNSHIP SUMMARY
Swift & Staley Inc. (SSI) is a trusted and reliable contractor for the federal government. Our organization is 100% employee-owned and provides infrastructure support services for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) at facilities located in Paducah, Kentucky and Portsmouth, Ohio. This internship will allow the chosen candidate to work with a team of experienced, dedicated professionals at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in West Paducah. It will also provide the student with real-life experiences, affording the opportunity to apply their classroom learning to practical tasks and project activities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work alongside full-time employees who are performing meaningful and challenging work
- Attend internal training and development presentations to enhance professional competencies
- Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects
- Assist with day to day engineering activities that support the business
- Be a champion of safety practices
- Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects
- Gain valuable hands-on experience within your field of study
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- US Citizen and eligible to work in the United States
- At least 18 years of age as of May 20, 2019
- Rising sophomore or higher, and enrolled in an accredited college/university
- Pursuing a degree in the field of engineering (mechanical, chemical, electrical, industrial, civil, etc.).
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Ability to work full time (40 hours/week) for the duration of the summer internship
- Organized, self-motivated, effective communicator, and demonstrates a high level of confidentiality
- Must be able to wear company-provided personal protection equipment when required
- Possess a valid driver s license
- Able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam, drug screen, and background check
