Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter for a local project located in east Idaho This is a fantastic long term opportunity for the right individual, which may allow for longer-term employment depending on performance for the next 3 years. Compensation (see below) is dependent upon experience and potential comp changes may be avail down the road following demonstrated work ethic and trade knowledge. Previous experience is required, ideally 5YRS+.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the design, construction and repair of structures and facilities. Act as a lead to other staff and subcontractors, and perform related work as directed. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of rough and finish carpentry work. Should be able to interpret plans/blueprints, design/build to exact specifications. Also possess ability to inspect/verify completed work performed by others against specifications. Ability to distinguish and work within acceptable building & code parameters, while performing essential job duties in a safe manner complying with OSHA guidelines. Ability to estimate time & material costs as it relates to the Carpentry Trade. This position will require a drug test and background screen prior to employment consideration. Candidate Backgrounds will be vetted and specific project criteria has been established.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Designs, constructs, remodels, retrofits and repairs interior and exterior structures made of wood,drywall, plaster, steel, concrete or brick.
  2. Designs, constructs, retrofits, and repairs cabinets, tables, shelves, benches, partitions, flooring, door and window frames, and other types of furniture. May install and repair modular furniture.
  3. Secures furniture for earthquake preparedness.
  4. Cleans, maintains, adjusts, calibrates and services equipment used in the performance of duties.
  5. Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to Code Requirements and report back to supervisor.
  6. Installs, repairs and maintains building roofs.
  7. Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades. Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical hazards as well as environmental hazards such as molds and various solvents.

COMPENSATION: Wages will be dependent upon how many years work experience and background. The pay starting range for this position will be $15-$20, with exceptions given to those candidates with proven experience.
