We are currently seeking a Marine Operations Supervisor to join our growing team!

Position Overview:

On-site supervision of all aspects of Emergency Response and Maritime projects including writing and preparing work plans and health and safety plans; implementing the project plan to meet the profit goals of the organization and maintain compliance with the health and safety plan. In addition, this position will oversee and be responsible for Marine assets for the Alameda/SFO Bay location. Perform/oversee Marine Transfers (MTR s), provide CASP coverage, ensure response resource readiness for actual responses as well as for State, Federal, and NRC internal drills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work safely and obey Safety Management System and Programs ensuring safety of crew, equipment and visitors.
  • Maintaining vessels in accordance with ABS and CG regulations. Assist with periodic routine ABS and CG inspections and surveys.
  • Ensure vessels and equipment is maintained in a state of readiness for Emergency Response and Unannounced/Announced Drills by keeping vessels and equipment clean, orderly and stocked with adequate supplies and spare parts at all times.
  • Identify, record, and communicate all critical information regarding oil spill response equipment readiness to the Marine Operations Manager.
  • Manage emergency situations in an effective manner.
  • Complete and distribute vessel/equipment Monthly and Quarterly maintenance reports working with the Marine Mechanic(s). Maintenance files to be maintained for each piece of equipment on-site for inspection purposes.
  • Complete and submit weekly work reports to Marine Operations Manager.
  • Attend and Participate in client Table Top Oil Spill Response Exercises and actual Equipment Deployment Drills.
  • Correct completion of all NRC paperwork and project documentation including Project Start Forms, Work Authorization Forms, Dispatch Requests, Daily work reports, Daily Tailgate Safety Meeting Forms, Hazardous Waste Manifest, Notes/Incident Action Logbook.
  • Execution of fieldwork encompassed in marine services, industrial cleaning, waste packaging and disposal, emergency spill response and site cleanup projects while under supervision.
  • Perform vessel operations which includes; vessel containment booming, ACP 2 Sensitive Site protection booming, open water booming/containment, skimming vessel operation, skimmer operation, and small barge operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Requires High School or GED (or equivalent reading, writing and reasoning skills)
  • 5-10 years directly related marine spill response and/or environmental, emergency response experience.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge with strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to safely operate all NRC skiffs and larger boats from 16 up to 32 .
  • Ability to Lead by example and set tone by displaying professionalism, proper communication with clients and team work along with the ability to instill motivation with a positive attitude and focus on customer service.
  • Industry required certifications
  • Must become familiar and competent with regards to the California Area Contingency Plan (ACP) for region.
  • Ability and willingness attend and successfully complete Incident Command System Training ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, and ICS-400.
  • Skills to safely operate assigned equipment including large centrifugal pumps, pressure washers (all types, including hydro-blasters), hydraulic power units, oil skimming systems, vessel mounted pedestal cranes under 10 ton, forklifts under 10 ton.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work extended hours including weekends/holiday in support of NRC's 24/7/365 operations.

Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process including, but not limited to, employment verification, criminal search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search as well continued verification throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards.
