SUMMARY

Our firm seeks a knowledgeable, talented, and driven network engineer who will work alongside the IT support team to ensure maximum performance of a high traffic network infrastructure while maintaining system integrity. Internal networks include computer, voice, and firewall. The ideal candidate for the position of network engineer is agreeable, helpful, and efficient as well as having in-depth knowledge of networks with a focus on high-level design and planning, switching cables, connections, software/firmware of related network devices.

This position will require knowledge of networking technologies including routing, switching, storage and security as well as a desire and aptitude to learn new technologies as needed to keep pace with our customer needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure

Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices;

Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLAs;

Collect and review network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes;

Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans

Manage and troubleshoot network and internet connectivity throughout the organization

Work closely with team members to provide end-user support and issue resolution

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and techniques

Collaborate with and support the work of other staff engaged in similar functions

Provide a wide range of network administrations duties including: Routers, Switches, Patch panels, storage devices, server equipment, wireless, KVM devices, fiber, and low-high voltage wiring.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

OSPF, Static Routing, Trunks, Syslog, Content Filtering, Firewall, Access/Object/Service Rules, IPS, VPN, VLAN, QOS, SNMP, SMTP, Standard Web Protocols, Port Mapping, Network Diagnostics, Cable/Port Termination, Cable Installation/repair.

Senior personnel required to train and maintain a limited supervision status.

Must have advanced knowledge of systems administration techniques and tools.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong organizational and coordination skills

Requires good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple, shifting priorities.

Working knowledge of customer support and troubleshooting principles and methods;

Ability to diagnose and resolve problems in response to customer reported incidents;

Must be able to identify, research, evaluate, and provide feedback to management on problematic trends

Must assist in the development of policies, procedures, and standards;

Ability to troubleshoot complex problems & coordination with other IT teams and service providers;

Will be required to regularly upgrade technical skills;

Ability to provide technical support to critical end-user issues in support on a 24x7 basis if required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor s degree, or lesser degree with equivalent work experience

Ten+ years of related work experience, with three of those years direct experience in the engineering of a network infrastructure – routers, switches, etc.

ACSP, CCNA certifications or other equivalent training

Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.

Proven customer service skills

Ability to apply systematic/systems analysis processes and procedures to troubleshooting diagnostics.

Advanced diagnostic skills and tools knowledge.

Experience with Microsoft Office products including Access, Excel, and Word.

Knowledge of Federal IT regulations and security procedures preferred.
