Ulland Brothers, Inc., is a Civil/Highway-Heavy, aggregate, bituminous paving, grading and site development contractor with offices in Carlton, Virginia and Albert Lea, MN. Ulland Brothers has operated in the construction industry for over 95 years. Ulland Brothers has an immediate opening for the position of Operations / Project Manager in the Albert Lea Office. The position of Operations / Project Manager reports directly to the General Manager. The Operations / Project Manager is primarily responsible for management and leadership to complete our projects in a manner that fulfills the expectations of our customers, provides a satisfactory return on investment to our shareholders and offers our employees a personally rewarding experience.


  • Provide leadership, direction and training for our project superintendents
  • Establish and maintain effective lines of communication
  • Support and develop the team of office, shop and field employees

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage project superintendents
  • Assist estimating department
  • Provide field status reports to the General Manager
  • Study job costs, equipment costs and other project reports
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance with shop and field personnel
  • Negotiate change orders and supplemental agreements
  • Provide technical assistance to construction personnel
  • Facilitate pre-construction meetings
  • Plan and schedule private and commercial projects including choice of equipment, materials, supervision, and engineering
  • Assist in the management of aggregate reserves and exploration
  • Implement and enforce all Ulland Brothers policies


  • Knowledge of all aspects of field operations
  • Extensive experience and training in construction field operations and an understanding of the long and short-term challenges
  • Communication skills. Able to communicate with all levels of construction personnel
  • Computer skills and record keeping
  • Reading, understanding and visualizing projects from plans and specifications
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions
