PeopleSoft Payroll Lead – Public Sector


Sierra-Cedar is seeking a PeopleSoft Functional Payroll Lead guru. If systems integration and upgrades are your specialty and you enjoy working closely with clients onsite, then our Public Sector team is looking for you! In this role, you are keen to put your PeopleSoft Financials knowledge and expertise to use on a robust engagement with a group of really talented consultants.

This position requires travel with projects executed on-site at Sierra-Cedar client locations nationwide with a typical week of four 10-hour days.


  • Provide PeopleSoft functional consulting services by acting as subject matter expert and leading clients through the entire systems development life cycle
  • Work on all project phases including fit/gap, configuration, and testing
  • Assist clients in fully integrating the system into their current business environments and provide input on best practices
  • Advise client on options, risks, and any impacts on other processes or systems
  • Configure the system to meet each client’s unique business requirements


  • 6+ years' PeopleSoft experience; preference in a Public Sector or Higher Education project environment
  • PeopleSoft v9.2 experience
  • Full lifecycle implementation and upgrade experience with Payroll modules
  • Ability to perform fit/gap analysis on business processes against the state and federal regulations
  • Ability to perform a system fit/gap analysis on the use of delivered PeopleSoft functionality
  • Ability to re-design business processes from the ground up for efficiency and to compliment the use of the PeopleSoft Payroll module
  • Ability to prepare functional system requirements for system changes to support new business processes
  • Minimum of five years PeopleSoft Payroll experience
  • Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft Payroll 9.1 functionality including check reissuance and commitment accounting
  • Solid understanding of setup tables, W-2s, year-end processing, entire HCM/payroll cycle, processes and reporting


  • Effectively manages scope and client expectations on individual assignments
  • Follows through on all assignments and takes ownership of customer issues


  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, account executives, and management
  • Consistently produce clear, concise status reports
  • Build confidence and trust with customers
  • Display effective analytical skills
