Job Description

The Electrical Site Design Engineer will be responsible for creating 1-Line and 3-Line electrical drawings for customer installations and contribute to microgrid development projects, site analysis, and grid interaction studies. The candidate must have a deep understanding of grid interconnection codes and best practices, power factor correction techniques, distributed generation and DER topologies. Ability to lead a team of designers to conduct research and intro microgrids and simultaneously provide work product for new installations.

Hardware Selection

  • Design experience with DERs, protection relays, and grid controllers and siting of generation assets

Requirements Specification and System Analysis

  • Successful candidate will also be capable of leading electrical site design tasks and performing design verification

Components Models and Testing

  • Ability to perform modeling and simulation of micro-grid topologies and analyze results
  • Experience with HIL a plus

Troubleshooting

  • When components issues arise in the factory of field, lead the investigations using tools such as DIVE, Fault Tree, Red X, and Seven Diamonds to identify root cause and implement timely mitigations/corrective actions

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a hands on electrical engineer
  • Candidate must have experience in power systems and power electronics
  • Candidate must also have experience in electrical power systems design and modeling
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of technical folks with degrees ranging from B.S to PhD
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and executing it
  • Strong analysis and experimental skills to solve any issues with field or factory
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to talk to suppliers and manufacturing associates

Education

  • MS in Electrical Engineering
  • Candidates with a doctorate degree strongly preferred
