We are currently seeking a Senior Protection Engineer for our Renewable Energy group in our various North Carolina offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the design of electrical protection and control systems for generation, transmission, and distribution
  • Set and program relays.
  • Perform engineering and design calculations.
  • Prioritization of tasks to ensure quality, safety and customer satisfaction while adhering to budget.
  • Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
  • Demonstrate a combination of strong technical skills and experience coupled with customer service and team leadership skills.
  • Lead, direct and mentor less experienced team members.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelors or master's degree in electrical engineering and professional registration (P.E.) in a state or states where Timmons Group conducts business.
  • 10 + years of experience in protection and control engineering is required
  • The successful candidate will develop complete engineering design packages for protective relaying and communications systems, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications and bill of materials.

Assists in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates. Communicates with client, staff and internal design team.
