Job Description

We are currently seeking a Technician to join our team.

Summary

Under the immediate direction of the Area Manager, Technicians are typically operators, but may oversee Laborers at the direction of the Area Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Applies chemical herbicide and/or pesticide to right-of-way following brush removal, utilizing hose and spray nozzle from truck-mounted spray equipment, which includes tank, pump, hose reel, 200 feet of 5/8 inch hose, and/or utilizing a backpack in remote areas.
  • Operates and services all required tools and equipment
  • Safely operates chainsaw and small mechanical tools
  • Attendance Requirements are an average of 50 hours per week.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must develop a basic knowledge of the materials used, including handle, store, transport and apply them properly
  • Must work well in cooperation with other employees
  • Must be punctual and dependable
  • Must follow detailed instructions
  • Must be able to understand and follow company safety regulations and company policies
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must have basic mathematical skills to perform volume calculations, chemical mixes, etc.
  • Must have basic communication skills
  • Must be able to complete necessary forms and reports
  • Must be able to follow and negotiate a work map
  • Must have basic weed and tree identification knowledge
  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical field duties for 8-10 hours per day.
  • Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and the requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear PPE as necessary.
  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
  • Must be able to traverse various terrains.
  • Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
  • Must be able to communicate with others.
  • Must be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasks.
  • Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day. Must be able to work long hours and overtime during the spray season (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work).
  • Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.
  • Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Requires 2-3 weeks away from home at a time during the spray season.
  • Must be able to pass state Commercial Applicator test.
  • Must be able to pass background check to gain access to work on military bases.
