Welder Fabricator - WF0219

Sanders Brothers is a family owned, fully bonded, license and insured general contractor of street & road construction, and asphalt manufacturing. The welder will be responsible for supporting fleet, equipment and plant welding and fabrication needs.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers and rulers.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, suas as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron and other alloys.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thickness of metals.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completed electrical circuits.
  • Connect and turn regulators valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.
  • Metal design and fabrication.
  • Communicate with employees and managers regarding welding and fabrication needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Technical training in the welding and fabrication fields.
  • Five (5) years experience working with various welding equipment, techniques and metals.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the production.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses repair and maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of welding related safety procedures and protocol.
  • Read and understand customer drawings, weld symbols and tolerances.
  • Ability to complete work on-time and within budget constraints.
  • Ability to produce welds of the correct size and shape.
  • Understanding of mathematics and physics.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by SBCC policy.
  • Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
  • Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to background checks.
  • Have the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.

May require standing, kneeling and sitting for extended periods of time.
